Greetings from the Northwest Frontier Province

Our family lived in Peshawar, Pakistan, 1998-2000. We survivied three evacuations, constant security warnings, a bomb outside our house, and a bit more. Now Peshawar is considered a Taliban stronghold. (It was then too, though it didn't make news the way it does now.) During our first evacuation the summer of 1998, US cruise missles lnaded about 100 miles from our home, in an effort to get Osama bin Laden.

Sadly, things have changed a bit since we left. With the Afghan war, we hear the school has closed, and family members are no longer allowed at post. Not long ago, another bomb exploded in front of the Consulate General. That one made international news.

Here are a few photos and some observations about like in Peshawar during the time we were there.
