Animals      Lions     More Animals      Our Home     Home Page

Ok, So we didn't have to move half way to the South Pole to be chased around by semi-tame monkeys in a zoo-like setting, but the tour we got was remarkable, with the gameskeeper jumping in and out of cages to demonstrate how well he had tamed his critters. He pet the brown Hyenas, wrestling with them and scratching their bellies. They played just like our new dogs. (The spotted hyenas, however, he said he would never turn his back on.)

Then we left the zoo-like area and drove through the adjacent game park (more like game parkette, but who's counting), and there was nothing between us and the critters except our windows.

Not even that sometimes, since the gameskeepers kept letting us get out of the car, to pet the elephant or take pictures  of the lions. We did stay in our car, however, for feeding time, and watched Mama lion tearing into her joint about five feet away. Awesome.
