A Bird's Life in Our Garden

Boys' Pictures Halloween Pictures Africa Home

It is hard to think of it as being Christmas when it is 75 degrees outside and we are swimming regularly in our pool. Our pets don't know that it is Christmas either. The dogs are shedding up a storm, and two (or three) of our birds have recently succeeded in hatching almost 20 chicks. This brings our total bird count to three adult guinea fowl, three teenage guinea fowl, nine infant guinea fowl, three adult hens, two roosters, and nine chicks. A few pictures:

Red started sitting on her eggs first. Meanwhile, Blackie was still laying eggs in Red's nest. After about two weeks, Blackie joined Red in her nest. They sat together for about a week, and then nine babes hatched. Both hens think they are the Mom, and the chicks don't know who they belong with. Just one big happy family....
